I will start with disclaimers:
This WILL include spoilers for all the other MCU movies (including Ant man and the Wasp), but not the shows (except Agents of SHIELD), I haven't watched them all, so I will not include most of the shows or 1-shots to this post.

This is a topic I've been thinking over for a while. Since the release of Spiderman Homecoming, the internet has blown up with, "Spiderman Homecoming breaks the MCU Timeline!" "Will Infinity War fix the MCU Timeline?" "Since The Avengers took place in 2012, does that mean Spiderman Homecoming takes place in 2020?"

Since watching Avengers Infinity War, Ant Man and the Wasp, and Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD, I have concluded that the 8 years Time Card is inaccurate, I've had to update this entire timeline accordingly. However a possible new problem has occurred.

Let's begin with Phase 1. This is filled with many wrong assumptions; the primary being that the movies take place mostly between 2010 and 2012. But honestly, Phase 1 ends in 2010.

Captain America the First Avenger: Most of this movie is self-explanatory, it takes place from around 1942 and 1945. The Smithsonian Museum exhibit in Cap 2 reveals that Bucky supposedly dies in 1944. As for when Cap wakes up. There is a map at the end of Iron Man 2 that targets Greenland, so I'm assuming he is recovered the same year as Iron Man 2.

Iron Man: This is the first movie fans mess up. On one of the TVs, the date is revealed to be 2008, not 2010 (and this date was shown after Tony's time as a hostage). Even listening to dialog, the entirety of the movie takes no more time than 6 months, placing the entire movie in 2008.

Iron Man 2: This is a pivotal movie in the timeline because of the Avengers Initiative scene at the end. But Iron Man 2 takes place around May 2009. Supposedly, Tony Stark's birthday is May 29th. And Justin Hammer mentions (in the press conference towards the beginning) that the events of the first Iron Man took place just around year prior. Tony's Birthday, and the poison side effect of the Arc Reactor solidifies the short span of time of the movie.

The Incredible Hulk: It's assumed that Banner's first transformation occurred in the early 2000s, and there was a date that suggests that General Ross lost trace of Banner around 2006. Fortunately, the news footage during the University fight scene is present during the ending of Iron Man 2. So we can safely place the events of the Incredible Hulk in 2009.

Thor: Thor is also easy to place because of Iron Man 2. If the target on New Mexico on the global map doesn't convince you, remember that Coulson was assigned there right after his guard duty on Tony. The after credit scene of Iron Man 2 show's Coulson's arrival at the Hammer's crash site.

The Avengers: This is movie dated wrongly the most. Everyone assumes it takes place in 2012, but... that's just a false assumption. Nick Fury says one line that puts the Avengers... (drumroll)...
...in 2010. Yes, 2010! Maybe it was Tony's quotable jab at Captain America that distracted fans, but Fury does say, "Last year we had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town..." This means, The Avengers takes place just a year after Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor.

Now to Phase 2 (with a quick mention for a Phase 3 movie GoTG2):

Iron Man 3: The party at Switzerland is easy, it's New Year's Eve, 1999/New Year's Day, 2000. It's what Killian, Tony, and Dr. Hansen says during Iron Man 3 that places the movie at around Christmas 2012. Killian says, "I approached Tony around 13 years ago..." telling Pepper about trying to get Tony to join AIM. When Dr. Hansen approaches Tony before the Mandarin attacks his house in Miami, Tony tells her, "Please don't tell me there's a 13 year old boy in the car..." At which she sarcastically replies, "No, he's 12..." Considering Christmas and New Years day is less than a week apart, I'm inclined to think it's the Christmas of 2012.

Thor The Dark World: Is surprisingly an easy one. In the dinner scene at the end, Darcy notes that Thor was gone for about 2 years. But what's really interesting is the calendar behind Jane that clearly says 2013. So that kind of settles that.

Captain America Winter Soldier: Cap 2 seems to take place in early 2014. My main reason for this is because of Agents of SHIELD, which has been attempting to use real-time episodes to date the movies. Season 1, Episode 17; Turn, Turn, Turn, aired April 8, 2014, and takes place during the events of Winter Soldier.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and 2: Using the time cards of both movies' intros and the "years later" stamps after both, it's easily accepted that both Guardians of the Galaxy movies take place in 2014 just months from each other.

Avengers Age of Ultron: Marvel Agents of SHIELD also has a direct tie-in for Avengers Age of Ultron placing the movie around it's original release date of May 2015.

Ant Man: Kevin Feige confirmed Ant Man takes place shortly after Avengers Age of Ulron, and as of yet, I've found nothing that disagrees with the year 2015.

Now unto Phase 3 of the MCU. And this is where things get confusing, but I think it still works out well:

Captain America Civil War: I think there is a newspaper article that places the events of Lagos in 2016, and obviously Tony's father was killed in late 1991 (this is even mentioned in Iron Man 2 and Captain America Winter Soldier). During the Avengers discussion over the accords, Vision mentions the quote I've used earlier. 2016 is 8 years after 2008. It's the Airport scene that gets most confusing. It was listed to be just months before the majority of Spiderman Homecoming (which I will date in a second). This is the only form of real speculation in this timeline. I think it takes months, maybe even a year or two for the entire span of Cap 3. But there's so much going on, it's hard to tell for sure. Politically speaking, it may take a while for the Sakovia Accords to be formed, the Avengers were shown a draft. Also, it's unknown how long it took for either side to assemble. Spiderman was taken from Queens, New York, to Berlin Germany, and Berlin is quite a distance from both the Avengers facility and Lagos. Vision could have also rounded the number of years. Either way, I think Civil War took place in 2016. Additionally, Agent's of SHIELD reaffirms this with the use of the Sakovia Accords.

Doctor Strange: Strange owns at least 1 trophy with the year 2016, I couldn't tell if his watch could tell the date, but it was broken before his apprenticeship. But I'm assuming the movie takes no more than 6 months total in time, so I'm placing Dr. Strange in the year 2016.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was already dated with the first movie.

Spiderman Homecoming: The movie that sparked the debate in its current form. It says it's 8 years after The Avengers, but it could actually be 6 or 7 years, which means, it takes place in either in the fall of 2016 or 2017. There is a Time Card between Civil War's Airport scene and Spiderman Homecoming, but including a Homecoming scene, suggests very early on in the school year.

Thor Ragnarok: This one is relatively easy. Thor and Banner discover that Banner has been the Hulk for around 2 years, and the movie clearly takes place some time after Doctor Strange. So Thor Ragnarok is set around 2017 or 2018.

Black Panther: From what I can tell, it takes place almost immediately after Civil War, so I'm dating this movie in 2017.

Avengers Infinity War: Tony does mention that Thanos has been plaguing him for 6 years. This is, in my opinion a new glaring flaw in the timeline. Ant Man and the Wasp and a few other movies solidify the date of Infinity War being around 2018. And while this may seem fine at first, this seems to take the assumption that Avengers took place in 2012, but that doesn't appear to be the case at all if you watch all the Phase 1 movies.
I thought for some time that Tony could be referring to Iron Man 3, when he took a major look at his life and set course on the direction of self-sustainable protection of the Earth. But that's arguable. If Avengers is really 2012, then we're left with contradictions in the time span established in Phase 1. If Avengers took place in 2010, then there is continuity error in Tony's statement in Infinity War.

Ant Man and the Wasp: This has major spoilers for those who haven't seen it in theaters, but it's an easy placement. Scott is 3 days away from the end of his 2 year house arrest. According to Black Widow, both Ant Man and Hawkeye has needed to make these agreements for their families. This easily establishes Ant Man and the Wasp in roughly a 3 day period and some post-credits scenes set it's place in relation to Infinity War.

And there we go. The MCU timeline for all the movies up to Ant Man and the Wasp, and we're still dealing with continuity issues. I'm sorry if it's a long list, but we're talking about 19 movies so far. I just wanted to get this all off my chest and find where everything falls. I wanted to see if the MCU Timeline is truly broken as the internet keeps saying it is.
The biggest assumption seems to be that all the Phase 1 Marvel movies take place within the release year of those movies, the primary one being The Avengers. But using simple math on all the dates mentioned or assigned, it just isn't the case. Apart from Captain America the First Avenger, the Phase 1 movies all take place between 2008 and 2010.

Again, the reason I didn't include most of the Marvel shows or any of the Marvel 1 shots is because I haven't seen most of them. I'm still in Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD, I haven't seen Agent Carter or The Punisher, I'm still in the middle of Jessica Jones Season 2, and I've only seen 1 or 2 of the 1 Shots (I don't have many blu-ray releases of the movies which normally include the 1 shots). I haven't seen the Inhumans show either or Agents of SHIELD Slingshot. And for the last time, I haven't seen Avengers Infinity War yet. So please don't spoil it for me, I will watch it soon.

If you have questions or comments, please be respectful. I understand if its confusing, but please don't be rude.
Obviously, I'm going to warn you about spoilers. This covers most of the MCU except most of the shows and Avengers Infinity War.

I've said this in my article, but I'm saying it again here, I haven't seen Infinity War yet, so please don't spoil the movie for me.
This is a defense to the claims that Spiderman Homecoming somehow broke the MCU. But from my MCU Marathon, I realized this is untrue, the timeline was never broken.

I don't own Marvel or anything associated with Marvel. This is just an article about the MCU movies.

EDIT: I have now seen Infinity War and Ant Man and the Wasp, and I've tried to update this entry accordingly.

Avengers Infinity War: It still takes place in 2018. There is a line that may cause some confusion, but I think it may be a reference to Iron Man 3, as the timeline places it in 2012.
